Klean Kanteen is one of the leading brands of reusable water bottles. They offer a wide range of eco-friendly water bottles to keep everyone hydrated in style. All their water bottles are free from toxic chemicals like BPA or bisphenol-A. Additionally, they have water bottles that can maintain the temperature of your favourite beverages for hours.
So you decided to make a switch from plastic water bottle to a reusable water bottle. But you should be cleaning it every day before it becomes a haven of germs and bacteria. Even more so if you put anything besides water into your water bottle. Germs thrive in moist environments and spread easily in the right conditions.
This is what we love about Klean Kanteen stainless steel water bottles. They are easier to clean compared to other similar water bottles. The interior of their water bottles are smooth so there is no place for dirt or gunk to get trapped. Moreover, stainless steel does not absorb odours which is a huge plus if you enjoy beverages other than water. Depending on what Klean Kanteen you got, you can either place it in your dishwasher or wash it using your hands.
Are Klean Kanteen Water Bottles Dishwasher Safe?
Dishwasher safe water bottles include non-insulated single wall bottles, brushed stainless steel water bottles and all Klean Kanteen caps and lids except for the bamboo cap. Handwashing is recommended for insulated and colour coated water bottles. Placing painted water bottles into your dishwasher could lead to their coating getting chipped.
How Do You Hand Wash Your Klean Kanteen Water Bottles?
Actually, it is highly recommended to just hand wash your Klean Kanteen water bottles even if it is dishwasher safe. It does not take an hour to wash it and you do not have to worry about forgetting to run your dishwasher.
Remove the cap or lid from your Klean Kanteen water bottle and fill the water bottle with hot soapy water. If there is gunk and other sediments at the bottom of your water bottle, leave it for 20-30 minutes. The soapy water will loosen the solidified gunk and sediments so you can easily remove them.
Alternatively, you can pour boiling water into your water bottle and have it sit overnight. In the morning, drain the water from the water bottle, fill it with soapy water and scrub using a cleaning brush.
Additional Cleaning Tips
There are other ways to clean your wonderful water bottles which involves using vinegar and baking soda or sodium bicarbonate. Both of these are common household items and are known for their natural cleaning and antibacterial properties.
Baking Soda
Baking soda or sodium bicarbonate is a good cleaning agent because it causes dirt and grease to dissolve in water. It works well for cleaning water bottles too. Dissolve one or two teaspoons of baking soda in warm water and pour it into your water bottle. Let it soak for a few hours, drain and wash clean.
Vinegar
Vinegar is another common household item known for its natural cleaning and antibacterial properties. Fill your water bottle with regular white vinegar and leave it to soak overnight. Make sure you remove your baking soda cleaning solution first before doing so. Wash with soap and water in the morning. Use a brush if necessary. Do not worry about the slight vinegar smell, it will dissipate quickly.
