Fun with Magnet Toys
Magnet toys are fantastic toys because of what they can provide. These toys are simple to play but the little magnets hold toy pieces together like glue are quite fascinating. They have exceptional developmental value as well. They’re highly recommended to children who are still developing their fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
These toys are great toys for imaginative and creative playtime as well. Being one of the best open-ended toys, some magnet toys like the magnetic storyboards allow children to use their imagination and creativity in crafting stories. This fun activity helps develop your child’s communication skills and expands their vocabulary through the use of newly discovered words.
Cleaning Tips
After some time, your child’s magnet toys will eventually become dirty and covered with grime, saliva and snot. This is totally normal so don’t panic.
We love wooden toys because they’re eco-friendly and their wooden texture brings our children closer to nature. They’re also great toys for early development. So all of our magnet toys are made from responsibly sourced wood. Wood has natural antibacterial properties so cleaning them should be a breeze.
Cleaning magnet toys is not much different than cleaning any other toy especially if they are made from wood. While the cleaning process is simple and straightforward, there are a few things you need to know and should avoid.
Here are some tips on how to clean dirty magnet toys:
Keep it natural
When cleaning wooden magnet toys, we recommend using mild soap like Castile soap. There are some castile soap that come scented with essential oils and they are amazing cleaning agents.
Vinegar and baking soda are two of the most common household items that are fantastic natural cleaning agents. Vinegar has natural antibacterial properties and is good for disinfecting toys. Baking soda is good at removing dirt and grime.
Don’t soak your wooden magnet toys
Never soak or submerge your wooden magnetic toys in water and any kind of liquid solution. Wood is porous which means if you soak any wooden toy in water, they will swell and you will end up with a deformed toy.
Magnets are often made from materials like iron which is prone to corrosion and rusting. Soaking them in water is not recommended.
What you can do instead is dilute your preferred clearing solution in a spray bottle. Spray into the rag or cloth not directly on the wooden magnet toys. Use the dampened cloth to wipe the toys until all obvious dirt and grime are no longer visible.
Drying
Magnets are prone to rusting so wipe any excess liquid on your magnet toys immediately.
Sun drying is highly recommended because it speeds up the drying process and the heat of the sun is a natural way of killing germs and bacteria. However, prolonged exposure to strong sunlight often leads to cracking and fading so it’s better to monitor your wooden magnet toys while sun-drying.
